I'm getting married soon, I bought him a promise ring when we got engaged, just wondering if the female is suppose to buy the wedding band also.
Yes, he is buying yours (as well as the engagement ring), you should at least buy him his band.

Typically the wedding rings are gifts. So, you would purchase his and he would purchase yours. However, these days couples sometimes live together and have joint accounts, so it comes out of that account or charged and paid off in time.

Does anyone know the "average" width of a wedding band for a man would be?
The one I'm looking at online is 4 mm but I don't know if that's super thin or if it's the "average" size or if I should look at something larger, or

there are too many factors unknown.... how large/small are his hands, length of fingers, his job..... generally about 1/3 - 1/4 the size of his finger from his knuckle to the connection to the hand.
