How can I personalize an inherited wedding band?

I am getting married in September. My fiance's grandmother gave me his deceased grandfather's wedding band to give to him. I am thrilled with the ring, but in addition to having it cleaned and polished, I would like to add something to it to make it "his."
you could get a pattern engraved on it, rather than words... celtic knots or just straight lines...then its not overly personalised with names/messages, but just creating a new design for the ring! a bit of the old and a bit of the new/modern touch

well if u plan on passing it down more, then say somthing that could fit anyone as a couple like"my love forever", "ill always be with you", somthin like that

My husband and i got married on very little notice in december (we weren't even engaged) he gave me a beautiful wedding ring but says that i shouldn't worry about getting him one because of his job. he is worried about it being able to conduct electricity
He should not wear any type of ring to work. Buy him a nice ring that he can wear & leave in his work locker.

My uncle in law has the same type of issues his real band is at home in a jewlery box.
He gets a new sterling silver band every year or so that cost less then 30 bucks or so. with it being sterling silver it doesn't conduct electricity and if
