I'm 18 and heading off to college next year. Is a TAG Heuer watch too fancy for me and too snobbish even if I can afford it?
A TAG Heuer is considered a luxury timepiece, which I think is a great buy for someone who is starting college. There is nothing snobbish about it, if you can afford it- who cares what anyone else thinks about your watch... it's your money :)

What model Tag Heuer? It wouldn't be too fancy unless it was fully decked out w/ diamonds. Lol. Tag's are nice solid timepieces though and for the most part, are not too fancy. Actually, nothing is ever 'too fancy', unless it is to the beholder.

Best watch suggestions?

I need to pick a nice watch (for myself). I wear a titanium Casio Seapathfinder for sailing and a Tag Heuer for everyday use. I'm torn between either a higher quality sailing watch (eg Omega?) or more of a dress watch... I'm not up to date on designs
I think vacheron constantin are perfect. They have classic designs and will last for generations. It would be more of an everyday / dress watch than a sporting watch since you already seem to have that covered.

Weston, FL (PRWEB) April 20, 2011
TAG Heuer Avant-Garde Eyewear has once again received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for one of its premium eyewear designs – this time, the L-TYPE LW, the latest in the leading-edge L-TYPE series.
The Red Dot Award, named after the Red Dot Museum, where the annual prize ceremony takes place, is one of the world's most coveted product design awards. This year's winners were selected from more than 11,000 entries from 60 countries by a 27-member jury of world-renowned industrial designers.
This is the third time that a TAG Heuer Eyewear design has been singled out for a Red Dot Award, having won in 2002 for its Physics Sport Vision eyewear and in 2010 for its patented Squadra NightVision.
Launched in February 2011, the L-TYPE LW (Lightweight) is one of the most advanced products ever produced by TAG Heuer Eyewear. A showcase of the brand's pioneering innovations in eyewear, it combines new materials and technology with superlative ergonomics and comfort, and the finest traditions of luxury craftsmanship.

TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Series Review | Calibre 11
by DC
The launch of the Grand Carrera range in 2007 was a crucial one for TAG Heuer. Not only was it the first new series introduced since the S/el way back in 1987, but the new range had the tough task of pushing into a more premium segment of the market and to an older set of buyers, many of whom may have never owned a TAG Heuer before.
The importance of the series meant that it took four years to develop, with TAG Heuer designer Christoph Behling that finding the right name also took some time, with “Vanquish” being a contender until late in the development.
Four years on, I was keen to take a closer look at the Grand Carrera series. I’d spent a couple of weeks with both of the Calibre 36 Grand Carrera’s last year, but this was the first time that I had test driven the other three models- from the basic watch through to the elaborate Rose Gold titanium model. And as often seems to be the case, the model that I liked the most was the one that I thought that I’d like the least when the watches first arrived.
