Try It Thursday - Glass Jewelry TraysBrett Lund from Roberts Arts & Crafts explains how to make some inexpensive glass trays using supplies from Roberts as well as the thrift store. Hometown portrait: Sharing her craftFrances Houser has competed in SilverArts for several years. She keeps her awards and ribbons stored away, but she doesn’t save too many examples of her work. “I always give away what I’ve made,” she said. “Other than in the literary category, I never start working on what I’m going to enter until about the middle of February. Anything I’ve done through the year, I’ve already given away to someone.” Some of the items she has kept include the Red Hats, a coat and a painted red and purple pocketbook that she wears to the meetings of the Red and Purple Peppies. Houser serves as queen mother of the group. She also kept an apron she made out of a tablecloth and a wooden tray she painted with apples. Houser has always been interested in crafts and said that she has tried just about everything, except crocheting. “When I was about 9 or 10, my mom, who was an expert crocheter, tried to each me how,” Houser said. “I never got beyond the basic stitch. I could never hold my needle to suit her and she would laugh at me.” jewelry tray inserts - Bookshelf
