Londoner's clients devoted in a big way

A London-based jewelry company is making international waves, its 'spiritual' products showing up on celebrities and yoga moguls alike.

Londoner Diana Charabin founded Tiny Devotions more than a year ago after spending time in Bali, Indonesia. She'd just graduated from law school, but found herself going down another path.

"I discovered mala beads and I was really drawn to them," said Charabin, a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas high school in London. "It was kind of unexplainable."

The beads, which she says have spiritual and sacred qualities, are made from the seeds of rudraksha trees. They're grown in remote locations in India, Indonesia and Hawaii and are traditionally used for prayer and meditation.

"They've been worn for thousands of years all around the world in many different traditions," said Charabin. Religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism use the beads, but hers are non-denominational.

The necklaces are crafted out of 108 beads, and fashioned with a gemstone as the centerpiece. The gemstones represent goals and positive thinking, she said, with each stone symbolizing different things.
