In December 2009 we were living in a privately rented property and had to move out for a week while some urgent major repairs were done. We boxed up our stuff and all the bedroom furniture and left it in the living room, the landlord was legally responsible

I would say yes because 13 months is a long time but to be honest, you have nothing to lose by contacting your landlord and let them know your discovery.
